About Us
Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company
The Sanborn Fire Company is comprised of 100% VOLUNTEERS of both men and women from the local community of Sanborn and its surrounding area. You may have a neighbor on your street that is a member and may have never realized it. Sanborn Fire operates within a 10 square mile area that covers a majority of the hamlet of Sanborn spanning into parts of the Town of Lewiston, Town of Cambria and Town of Wheatfield as well as provides mutual aid support to surrounding fire companies and communities.
The fire company members supply fire suppression, rescue operations, supplemental medical support and various other services to our community whenever called upon. We respond 24 hours a day 365 days a year to help anyone in the community during a time of need. Although on the surface it may sound simple there are many regulations from the State, OSHA, and NFPA that need to be met yearly to keep the fire company in compliance. Countless hours are spent on drills and other training by the members on an ongoing basis.
Sanborn Fire is a non-for-profit organization and while the Town of Lewiston and Town of Cambria contract us for our services, we are also supported by the generosity of donations from those within the community. Money raised via our various fundraisers helps pays for training equipment, uniforms, protective clothing such as helmets boots and fire coats, and equipment we need to perform our duties ranging from hand tools to our apparatus.
Sanborn Ladies' Auxiliary
The Sanborn Ladies Auxiliary has been in continuous service since 1966. Since its inception, the Auxiliary traditionally consisted of spouses and other family members of active Sanborn Fire Volunteers but since that time it has grown to also include friends and those within the community that simply wish to contribute and give back to the community in their own way.
The Ladies Auxiliary has always been there to assist the Active firefighters whenever asked, be it the preparation of food at the fire station when the volunteers were heavily engaged in a large fire or emergency situation, help with the fundraisers, open houses, or putting on dinners if Sanborn Fire is hosting a firematic functions. The dedication of these ladies is often reflected with their warm smiles and hard work that is put forth when they too show up at late hours sometimes leaving work and family behind for the better of the community.
Sanborn Exempt Firemen’s Benevolent Association
The Sanborn Exempt Fireman’s Benevolent Association was formed in 1985. The primary purpose of the Exempts Association has been to promote social interaction and friendship among its members, members of the Sanborn Fire Company and its community. The Exempt Benevolent Association also provides support, aid and assistance of such members and their families who are disabled or injured as well as promotes the safeguarding of the welfare of the Sanborn Fire volunteer members and their families. Another purpose of the Exempts Association is to help enhance the morale of Sanborn Fire’s members through social and recreational activities and the promotion of the volunteer fire service within the community.
To be eligible for membership, a person must have completed five years of active service with Sanborn Fire.

Sanborn Fire Company Band and Color Guard
The Sanborn Fire Company Band was formed in 1930 as the Sanborn Fire Company Boy Scout Drum Corp. Over the years the Sanborn Fire Company Band began adding concert performances to its traditional marching schedule. Today the Band performs as a Senior Military Style Concert and Marching Band which helps promote the Fire Service in support of the activities of the Sanborn Fire Company.
The obligation of the Sanborn Fire Company Band is to support the Sanborn Fire Company. This includes parading with the Fire Company at various events each year as well as a number of concerts on the Fire Company grounds including for many years assisting with the Sanborn Fire Company Field Days. Each year the Band, Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary sponsor a Holiday Concert at the Fire Hall for the Sanborn Community. The Sanborn Fire Company Band is also the official band of the Town of Lewiston (NY). The Band has also had the honor of performing at various venues throughout New York State, the Northeast, the Midwest and the Mid Atlantic regions of the country as well as Canada. Some of the notable performances the band has participated in throughout the years consist of National Independence Day Parade in Washington, DC., Concert at the Lincoln Memorial, Freedom Festival Parade in Philadelphia, and the Football Hall of Fame Parade in Canton, OH., and for many years led the Festival of Lights Parade in Niagara Falls.
