Residential Structure Fire

5838 Shawnee Road

At 7:43 this evening we were toned out to provide mutual aid for a confirmed structure fire located at 5838 Shawnee Road.

Several calls into 9-1-1 had reported smoke and possible fire coming from the attached garage of the home that quickly spread to a near by pickup truck and RV in the driveway and further spread into the home. Fire personnel arrived on the scene and got a good knock on the fire and were able to enter the structure and continue fighting the fire from the inside.  The fire was subsequently extinguished.  One firefighter was transported to the hospital with a possible ankle injury.  The investigation into the cause of the fire is being handled by the Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit.  The residents are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Residential Structure Fire

2075 Mount Hope Road

Today was a tough one…..

At 10:44 this morning we were toned out for a confirmed structure fire located at 2075 Mt Hope Road….the residence of some of our own Sanborn Fire family, Gary and Yvonne Farnham and their son. Gary is a member of the Fire Company and Yvonne is the President of our Ladies Auxiliary.

A call into 9-1-1 had reported heavy fire in the rear of the home that quickly spread and engulfed the entire house. Despite the quick response and all efforts by Sanborn Fire and all of the mutual aid agencies that assisted with the fire the residence was unfortunately a complete loss. Thankfully nobody was home at the time but there were three pets in the home that perished.

There is a Go Fund Me that is available to help the Farnham family during this difficult time. Sanborn Fire is also accepting and coordinating donations on behalf of the Farnham family, if you wish to contribute or make a donation to the Farnham family please send to:
